An excellent opportunity to join this leading International business for a Java Software Engineer with at least six years of experience of working in a structured development environment. You will work alongside a Business Analyst & various stakeholders to analyse, design and develop various systems for the business and customer needs across various projects. You will need to have good working experience of software engineering principles and the full software development lifecycle (SDLC). You will work independently and contribute to the Team as well.
Key responsibilities involve:
- Develop quality software solutions in Java, adopting best practice.
- Take ownership of the solution being developed
- Team leader capabilities
- Review business requirements / functional specifications and create the appropriate solution design.
- Create technical design documentation as appropriate.
- Present solutions to a technical and non-technical audience
- Work in an Agile, Daily Scrum environment
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders on a regular basis
- Manage your time efficiently and effectively.
- Perform systems analysis tasks as and when required.
- Use a Test Driven Development (TDD) approach and work with Test Team on issues etc.
- Assist IT Development support staff to resolve application and data issues as and when required.
- Provide application support to end users as and when required.
Key Skills required – Technical
- Excellent knowledge and experience in a mix of the following:
- Java 8+
- Wildfly Application Server
- JEE, JMS, Hibernate and JPA
- Oracle DB 10g+
- Oracle/MySql SQL skills
- Web Services; RESTful, SOAP, XML
- Linux/Unix knowledge with some basic scripting
- CSS, Javascript
- REACT
- Full SDLC
- Eclipse/IntelliJ
- GIT, Docker, Maven
- JIRA & working in an Agile environment (SCRUM, Kanban, DSDM)
- Working in TDD
- The Wish List – Desirable:
- Tomcat Apache
- JSF, JSP and AJAX, SWING or SWT
- Jasper
- Some Oracle DBA skills, database tuning etc.
- Linux or Unix Admin skills
- Cloud based code, CloudForge, BitBucket
- AWS
- Interface based design and development
Qualifications:
- A Level Education or Degree
